What I meant was...

My friend is looking for old WAWAs and I got the years wrong.  She'd love to have

1956    1957     1958    1959

If anybody has one of those books to donate, she'd be forever happy!  And that's saying something!
Email me at cedarrose61 at hotmail.com

And thank you (from Carol Wilson Colby, Class of '59!

Does Anybody Have?...

Had a taker for the 1962 WAWA and am mailing it off tomorrow.  She mentioned she'd also love to get a 1959, 1960, and a 1961 annual.  Anyone have one they might part with?  Email me at cedarrose61at hotmail.com

Old yearbooks

Somebody (I'm not sure who but thank you!) gave me some old WAWAs to pass on. I've got 1962, 1963 (two of those), and 1964.  If you'd like one, all you need to do is pay postage and I'll send it along. Or if you live in PT, I can deliver next time I come to town.

A picture from the past

Barbara McCleary Church, from the Class of 1962, gave me a copy of an old photo she had of PTHS from the air.

Stopped by to see Lois Black too. Took this one on her back porch. Love those flowers Lois! She'll be attending her high school reunion next weekend. (Chimacum)

Sunday morning early Mary Gaboury and I drove around town to take pictures. I shot these up on the high school campus.

                                                               The campus today
We spent many years in this gymnasium.  Fond memories

                                                            Mary at "The Wall"
Mary's first job was in that little building behind her. Only then it was called 'The Candy Store'
This remarkable looking chair sits on the main campus near the office
The Poor Ole Lincoln Building will never be the same

This garden area here is where the old rock steps used to be leading from the Lincoln playground to the high school campus.  I was disappointed we couldn't get a picture of us sitting on those steps again.  Oh well....you can't go home again.
Mary posing by our 1961 plaque on the walk of fame or whatever it's called.
I don't  think this sign was there when I went to school in the 50's & 60's. We had a lot of
fun touring Port Townsend that early morning.  No traffic and we acted silly in the middle of Lawrence Street and Water.  More pictures tomorrow on my other blog--This Side of the Road.

Class of 1962 at Alumni

I didn't get as many pictures as I normally would because I was busy selling books. (The Schools on the Hill)  Here's a few I took of the class of 1962.
                                                                Ray Merritt
Ralph Nite, Carolyn Woodward Lopeman, Harold Rogers
Gary Johnson, Dick Bumgarner, Ralph Nite
                                                Carolyn & Duke Lopeman

In back: Ken Henshaw, Ralph Nite, Tom Delaney, Dave Brandes,Harold Rogers, Sandy Westerfield

Middle row: Dick Bumgarner, Bert Bennett, Chuck Pratt, Norm Murdock, Joan Murray, Peggy Riggs,Roxie Rogers, Gerri Whitney, Gary Ortmeier, Joanne Reid, Rich Wallace

Front row: Marilyn Smith, Arletta Johnson, Maxine Evanson, Carolyn Husband, Barbara McCleary, Carolyn Woodward, Joanne Plattner

Here's another "not quite ready yet" shot (which are sometimes much better).  Ray Merritt (and maybe a couple others) appear in another group photo that Jan Boutilier took.  I apologize for any names I spelled incorrect and for using maiden names only. It's easier that way.

On my next post, I'll put up some other pictures I took at the banquet.  I ended up taking 183 photos this weekend, although I was able to delete about 69.  I also posted a short video of Bob Blaurock and Gene Petersen playing guitar on Facebook. Maybe I'll post a second video here. Unfortunately, the goofball filming this tune felt she needed to sing along.  (I'll never be a star)Sorry about that!

The Gym

While browsing microfilm at the Port Angeles library, I came across a 1938 sketch of the proposed gym for Port Townsend School District.  Interesting as the gym today looks pretty much the same. Well, sorta.

Old Leader photo

Ever since I found out the Port Angeles Library had microfilm of old Port Townsend Leaders, I've been spending a lot of time browsing through old issues.  The pictures on the microfilm don't print up very good at all, which is a huge disappointment to me, but I did try to get Cusack's drive-in photo printed never the less.

This is from August 1948 and I would have been about five.  I remember going there for milk shakes with my folks (I always remember milk shakes) but for some reason, I can't recall it looking like this. Perhaps because the building (up on Hancock and Sims Way) is much larger now.  I think it houses waste not, want not these days. George Gunn had his "second" store in the back for a time too but that was many years ago.  Perhaps when it was Cusacks drive-in, it was always just one floor.  Wish I could see some clearer photos.
